The Orchard Film Club

Welcome to the Orchard Film Club 2025!

Membership is free and a film ticket costs £6 per adult, £3 for under-17s.  Tickets can be purchased at Bob’s Butchers in Harwell High Street from about 2 weeks before the film date, on the door on the night, or by sending an email request to: orchardfilmclub@gmail.com

We try to run on the first Friday of each month, if the booking calendar allows, although there is no film in August as we break for the summer.  We aim to show a variety of films including recent releases, classic titles, musicals, drama and comedy.  Start time is always 7.30pm with doors and bar opening at 7pm.

Upcoming films and dates:

  • Friday 3rd October – Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
  • Friday 14th November – The Penguin Lessons
  • Friday 12th December – Promising Young Woman

We also plan to show “The Roses” as our January film, date to be confirmed and dependant on the release of the DVD/Blu Ray in the UK.

Remember, we are now able to take credit and debit card payments on the night for tickets and bar purchases.

We look forward to seeing you all soon!
With best wishes from Alison, Martin and Janice.

The Roots of the Orchard Film Club

In 2012 the wonderful Barbara Jackson was running the Events Committee for the Harwell Village Hall Redevelopment project and thought it would be a great idea to hold film evenings to raise money.  We showed “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” on Saturday 8th December and it was a huge success!  Bob’s Butchers supported us from the start, selling tickets and displaying our posters.

Three films followed in 2013, four in 2014 and another three in 2015, all in support of the project.  We paused in 2016 as the Orchard Hall was built, but once complete we had a fabulous venue, so the Orchard Film Club was born and monthly screenings started in January 2017.

We became an independent organisation in January 2019.  We are a charitable organisation run by volunteers and any surplus profits are offered as grants to local charities at the end of the financial year.

If you would like to join our team, please email us on orchardfilmclub@gmail.com.

Sadly we lost Barbara in June 2024 to MND and we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to her for starting the film club and all her support over the years, she is very much missed.
