DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to welcome back The Dunwells and Roswell Road to Harwell Village Hall. \nThe Dunwells are a successful Leeds based indie-folk-pop band with strong vocals\, powerful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Their debut album ‘BLIND SIGHTED FAITH’ was released to much global acclaim and spawned the singles ‘I COULD BE A KING’\, ‘FOLLOW THE ROAD’ (performed on the NBC Jay Leno show) and the title track ‘BLIND SIGHTED FAITH’. The band have since released 3 further studio albums\, a live album and a number of standout EP’s and singles. \nThe Dunwells have found favour with audiences across the world having performed live and toured extensively in the USA\, Europe and the UK as well as having supported artists including Mumford & Sons\, Elbow\, Tom Jones\, Scouting for Girls and Bryan Adams on UK tours. \nThey are passionate and prolific singer-songwriters having written material for notable artists and with joint collaborators as well as other high profile up and coming musicians.\nThe Dunwells have performed and been featured on many TV Shows on the BBC\, ITV\, NBC and multiple music and national/regional press publications. DESCRIPTION:A talk by Tim Owen\, Chair of Steventon Historical Society. \nWednesday 21st October at 7.30pm in the Cherry Hall. \nTickets on the door – £3 non-members\, members free. \nMaud is a version of the name Matilda. This is about 3 powerful women in the time of the Anarchy – the civil war in England c\, 1135 – 54. \n \nTim is keeping the identity of the 3 Mauds secret for now\, but the picture above may reveal one of them. \nTim graduated in Historical Geography; his interest in this period was sparked while teaching.  He is an historian\, author\, public speaker and battlefield tour guide with a flair for the dramatic.  Chair of the Steventon Historical Society\, he has written novels about Gilles de Bec\, and signed copies of Gilles of Bec and The Cage Full of Birds @£11.99 will be available at the talk. \n(Matilda means “mighty in battle” in Old German. I know this because it is my middle name! JMC)

DESCRIPTION:A talk by Owen Sutcliffe. \nWednesday 18th November at 7.30pm in the Cherry Hall. \nTickets on the door – £3 non-members\, members free \nThis area is particularly rich in Anglo-Saxon finds such as the horse-bone weaving comb (pictured). \n \nOwen is a geologist with a particular expertise in the Middle East. Archaeology is a sideline passion of his.  He is a member of the South Oxfordshire Archaeological Group\, and works as a volunteer on their digs when his career demands allow.  He has also led some minor excavations in Steventon under the auspices of the Steventon History Society.
